Bridal details tell the story of your wedding day. They tie everything together and are oh so beautiful! I love taking the first hour of a wedding day to focus on photographing the bride’s details. I love how they help to tell the story of your day! They also allow me to “warm up” and get creative so that I’m inspired for the rest of the wedding day.
This post will share the different items to include in your “detail box” for your photographer as well as show beautiful examples of what detail photos can look like!
The invitation suite sets the mood for your wedding day. You carefully select the style and then send it out to all of your family and friends! You will likely have plenty extra, so make sure to save a few copies to bring on your wedding day. I love using the invitation suite as a starting point for my detail photos. Then I get more creative and photograph your rings next to your names and really develop the details. Below are some of my recent favorites!
Next thing to add to your detail box is your jewelry! Starting with your new items – the wedding bands. Make sure to keep both wedding bands with you until after I take the detail photos. I’ll deliver them to the best man when I finish! Other important jewelry to include are your earrings, necklace, bracelet, class rings, and any other special jewelry you plan to wear on your wedding day. Sometimes my bride’s will wear a ring given to them by a grandmother or other special person in their life. Make sure if there is anything special like this to let me know so I can give it some extra attention in photos!
I love seeing what shoes my brides pick out for the wedding! Some have super classic heels, some choose to add personality with their shoes, and some ladies are going for comfort so they can dance all night. My advice for your shoes is to not wear them too much before the wedding day. That way they are nice in clean for the detail photos and don’t get scuffed up!
You’ve been waiting for it… detail photos also include your wedding dress! It will be pretty much impossible to forget this one, but many brides don’t think about bringing a nicer hanger. Some people like to purchase a customer hanger for these photos to add something extra special! If you don’t want a customer hanger, just a nice wooden hanger will look classic for these photos.
Finally, the last thing to include in your detail photos is your flowers! If you’ll be getting ready at a location different from the venue, see if your florist can deliver your bouquet and some loose flowers to the getting ready location. That way I can incorporate them in your detail photos! It’s also nice for if we have some extra time for bridal portraits during the getting ready portion of the day. Flowers can add something extra special to these photos!
Detail photos are some of my favorite photos to take! I love getting to be creative and capture those small details that my brides spend so much time on. Some things to remember to include in your detail box – a few copies of your invitation suite, all jewelry, shoes, perfume, and any other special items. Also make sure you have a nice hanger for your dress and your bouquet delivered to your getting ready location!
