One of the most important decisions you will make regarding your senior pictures (outside of the photographer!) is the location. You’ve probably heard it said “location, location location” and it really is so essential to the success of the shoot. The location of your pictures is a huge part of the style of the shoot. It can also add to how comfortable you feel if you choose a location you are familiar with! Luckily, there are usually a ton of good location options in any given city but it can sometimes take some exploring to find them.
In this post I’m sharing some of my favorite locations for pictures in College Station! This post is geared towards senior clients because most of the locations are on campus but these could also be good spots for couples as well.
Bush School
The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library has a beautiful lake area that many people don’t know about! This area is gorgeous, especially in the spring because there are tons of blooming flowers. There is also a beautiful gazebo and arches with vines on them! I could do a full session here because there are just so many different areas to choose from within this one location.
Academic Plaza
A classic for A&M graduation pictures is Academic Plaza. This is really the heart of campus and a center for so many of our traditions. You can take pictures in front of the Century Tree (or under it if you’re taking engagement/couple pictures!), on the Academic Building steps, on Military Walk, or in front of the YMCA building. There are SO many options here!
Association of Former Students
Giant Aggie Ring anyone? This is another classic A&M spot and has more of a modern, classy vibe than some of the other spots. Typically, this is where my seniors will choose to wear their more formal outfit. This is also a good spot for cap and gown photos! Fun tip for ya, if you walk across the street you can take pictures by the fountain (with Kyle Field in the background) and at the Hagler Center.
Administration Building
A&M’s Administration Building has beautiful white stairs and columns, perfect for that classy senior picture look! Unfortunately it is currently under construction, but I keep checking the progress and can’t wait to do more senior sessions here! Like the Association, this is a great spot for a dressier outfit.
West Campus Gardens
West Campus gardens are my favorite nature spot on campus. This location doesn’t even look like it’s on campus because you’re literally in the middle of a garden! It has such a beautiful look with greenery and flowers. It’s a great spot for a more casual outfits and pictures that you can use for things other than graduation announcements!
